Blackberry Aiming for A New Audience With the New Z10

Up until now we have only known Blackberry as mainly a "business" phone, used mostly by men and women involved in the corporate world. With the new Z10 Blackberry is trying to attracts users of all ages, making it more of a smart phone and less of a business phone. Here are we specs before we discuss the phone

Here are a few of the key features:
  • Operating System- The operating system is the new BlackBerry 10 operating system. While it is not something many of us are familiar with, the all new "BlackBerry Hub" is fairly easy to learn and pretty convenient as far as keeping up with all your things. It gives you easy access to emails, texts, and social networks. The bad thing about the BlackBerry OS is that it is still light years behind in term of the amount of apps available for their phones.
  • Memory- The phone comes with 16GB internal memory, while also allowing you to add a MicroSD card for increased memory.
  • Processor- The Z10 has a dual core 1.5GHz processor in it which allows it to run operate so smoothly. While it is not a quad core like most new phones, the dual core is still enough to make the phone do the things that it does.
  • Battery- While the battery life is still better than the bigger smart phones such as the Note II and the S4, it is still not as good as the IPhone. This being said, the battery life is still great on it and allows you to run most of the day if you are an average smart phone user.
  • Camera- The phone gives you an 8MP back and a 2MP front camera. The back allows you to do 1080P recording and the back allows you to do 720P recording. One feature that I liked about the camera is that it allows you to take a two second picture, allowing you to choose the precise moment that you want the picture to be saved as. This is a great feature because we all know that one person that tends to close their eyes as soon as the picture is about to be taken.
  • NFC- This phone does give you NFC, allowing you to share files with a lot of other smart phone users.
  • HDMI- The Z10 has a MicroHDMI out port, which is a great thing to have on smart phones these days. It allows us to connect our phones with out TVs for our viewing pleasures.
Overall I believe that the Z10 is a great phone, but I feel as though it is still a generation behind as far as smartphones are concerned. While it is definitely a step in the right direction for Blackberry to attract new users, it still needs some work to be able to compete with all the new phones on the market.

Did HTC get it right with the new HTC One?

For those of you that like HTC and others of you that are on the edge, the HTC One definitely seems intriguing. First lets take a look at the specs before we discuss the phone

Lets take an in depth look at the features:
  •  CPU-The processor is the all new quad core snapdragon at 1.7ghz, making it just a little bit less than the Galaxy S4.
  • Blinkfeed-While the blinkfeed isn't very convenient for a person like me, for those of you that love social networking it is a charm. Instead of having to check each individual app to see updates, the HTC One conveniently puts all of your updates on your home screen for you. It saves time and effort when checking your social network updates.
  • Camera-The camera on the HTC One is definitely an upgrade to previous HTC phones. Both the front and the back camera can record in 1080p HD, making it very useful for those of you that love to take videos. The picture quality and picture editing are also great for those of you that love to take pictures.
  • Body-The full metal body is definitely something new that a lot of phone companies are yet to try. While it feels and looks good, I am yet to see if it will actually survive a drop. The design and the feel of the phone definitely flow, however, so I give HTC a round of applause as far as the look.
  • Boomsound-A lot of the advertising for this phone was based on the new "Boomsound" feature that included two dual front facing speakers with Beats Audio. While the sound quality is great and the music is clear, I was truly disappointed with how loud the speakers got. So for those of you that like to listen to your phone's music through your headphones then you'll fall in love with the Beats Audio that is in the phone. On the other hand, if you like to play your music through your phone's speakers, I have a feeling that you will be disappointed in the phone. Like I said before, it not that the sound quality is bad, its just not as loud as I thought that it would be. It is just as loud as all other phones, giving it no distinct advantage in that department.
My final analysis is that HTC did do a very good job with this phone. The Blinkfeed feature is convenient, the camera is great, the phones style looks great, and the music quality is also great. The only this that this phone let me down with was how loud the speakers go, but that is something that I'm sure all phone users can live with.

Is the S4 really worth it?

Many of you are wondering what the S4 has that the S3 does not have. Here is a side by side comparison:

The most notable changes are as follows:
  1. Color-The color availability changes from the S3 to the S4, as a new "Black Mist" color is released rather then having a "Pebble Blue".
  2. Weight-The S4 is slightly lighter than the S3.
  3. OS-The S4 has the latest and greatest version of the Android OS, Jelly Bean 4.2.2
  4. CPU-The difference in the processor is one of the greatest differences available. The newer and faster processor on the S4 allows you to have two pages running on your phone just like the Note II allows you too. This is by far one of the greatest features that has improved from 3 to 4.
  5. Screen-The S4 comes with a slightly bigger 4.99 inch screen compared to the S3 4.8 inch screen. The screen is an updated Full HD AMOLED compared to the S3 super AMOLED, which means a brighter screen that produces richer colors
  6. Battery-The new S4 comes with a 2600 mAh battery compared to the 2100mAh seen in the S3. This added battery power gives strength to one of the greatest weaknesses that he S3 had.
  7. Camera-This is the other main feature that the S4 has better than the S3. The S4 has an upgraded 13MP rear, 2 MP front camera compared to the 8MP rear, 1.3 front seen on the S3. The upgraded camera is a huge upgrade. It also allows you to do dual mode, new to the market. This means that you can use both cameras at once to either record or take pictures, giving it an added personal touch to any pictures or videos you may take.
  8. Sensors-The last feature I will be talking about is the new sensors it comes with. The S4 has a new "Waivesense" technology, which allows users to wave their hands over the phone without touching it in order to changes songs, switch between webpages, or just simply change the time. While it is not a completely life changing feature, it is something that comes in handy for those who hate all those smudges on their screen.
My final analysis is that given the improved CPU and camera on it, the S4 is worth paying extra for over the S3. The way I see it, Samsung all the upgrades they had put in the Note II and made them better in the S4. While the S4 is not a completely new phone, the new features make it a must have for Android users.

Iphone 5 vs Galaxy S 4

One of the hottest debates today in the cell phone world is whether the IPhone 5 or the Galaxy S4 is the best phone available on the market. I personally like the Galaxy over the IPhone, but i will present you with the facts and let you decide

Each phone has its advantage as the S4 has:
  •  a better camera
  • faster processor
  • more RAM
  • a bigger and clearer screen
  • more customization
The S4 also has expanded memory, but the IPhone does come with ICloud which I believe to be an advantage compared to the S4.
Other advantages to the IPhone include:
  • a better battery life (even though the S4 has a bigger battery)
  • more durable phones
  • the fact that Apple products tend to get viruses way less than Android Phones
  • Apple gives better support for malfunctoning phones
  • Simpler operating system
My final verdict is that I would choose the Galaxy S4 over the IPhone 5 because I love the fact that you can customize it way more. The battery life is something that needs to be improved, however it is something i could live with. The IPhone 5 is still a great phone and definetly has superiority in some areas, but I believe that the new S4 beats it out.

To My Viewers...

Hello there Internet, my name is Enrique (Sledgehammer1004) and I'm fairly new to this blogging thing. I find it interesting how technology, especially that in mobile phones, tends to become obsolete and useless in a couple of months. I am making this blog to try and keep up with the rapid change in technology and the fast pace that cell phones change at. What I hope to do is to explain to all of you the new features and innovations that new phones have so you can make the right decisions in choosing your next phone. I will be posting more content on new technology in the next couple of days, hope you can stop by and read it.
